On this very morning of the 2010 All Star Game, the baseball world was shocked to learn of the death of George Steinbrenner at age of 80. For more than 30 years, the Boss became a household name, always building and ruling the team. In his blue blazer and white turtleneck, he always demanded excellence and expected championship results. His desire for winning was often controversial, but he could never be faulted for his ambitious goals. To George, we are going to miss you!His death comes only 3 days after the legendary Yankee announcer, Bob Sheppard passed away at age 99. For more than 50 years, Mr. Sheppard was the "Voice of the Yankees". His voice at the microphone was clear and concise. Both fans and players would cheer when the players were named.
Let us all take a silent moment to reflect on the loss of these two giants. Their presence will surely be missed, but never forgotten!
