Another year has passed and the Thanksgiving Holiday is upon us. It is a day where families get together around a table. Turkeys are roasted, memories are shared, the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade is watched, and everyone roots for their favorite football teams. To some, it is a joyous time. To others, it is sad and lonely. But volunteers go out to the kitchens to help prepare and serve meals to those less fortunate.
This year, we have a lot to be thankful for. The economy is slowly improving. The Democratic stronghold has been broken. We have our health and our families.
But for me, it is a time of both sorrow and joy. My mother passed away the day before Thanksgiving two years ago in my presence. While it was hard to see her go, we rejoiced in knowing that she will be spending the holiday with my father, grandmother, nephew, and all other relatives. But the time of her passing will always be etched in our memories when we sit at the table. Joyously, my nephew's first son was born a few days later on the day of her funeral. As a friend had told us:
One Goes and One Arrives in the Circle of Life
As we take this time to reflect on our year and prepare the holiday, our family wants to wish all our friends, readers, and associates a:
Very Happy Thanksgiving 2010
